Refund policy

1. The window

You have 30 calendar days from the purchase date to request a refund. We start the clock from the time of the Stripe charge, not from the time you first ran the software. Refund requests outside the 30-day window are not honored except in cases of demonstrable product defect (handled separately under section 5 below).

2. How to request

Email refunds@sealedbrief.com. Include the email address you used at checkout. We do not require a reason. We do not ask follow-up questions designed to talk you out of it. We process refund requests within 5 business days.

3. How the refund happens

Refunds are issued via Stripe to the original payment method. The full purchase amount is returned, including any applicable taxes Stripe collected on our behalf. Bank-side processing typically takes 5–10 business days; we have no influence over your bank's timing.

4. Consequences for the license

On refund, your license_id is added to the certificate revocation list (CRL). The next time SealedBrief checks the CRL — which happens on every launch and every 24 hours of continuous use — your installed copy will see the revocation and stop validating. Per the EULA section 5, you must uninstall the software from machines you control within 30 days of revocation.

Documents you processed during the refund window remain yours. The revocation terminates the right to use the software, not the data.

5. Defective software

If you encounter a bug that prevents normal use of the product, the first step is to email support@sealedbrief.com — we will work with you to fix it. If the bug is unfixable within a reasonable timeframe, we will offer either a full refund (regardless of the 30-day window) or a credit toward a future product release. The choice is yours.

6. Chargebacks

Please contact us before initiating a chargeback. Chargebacks impose Stripe-side fees and friction; a direct refund request gets you the same money back faster. If you do file a chargeback, we will not contest a legitimate request, but the resulting CRL entry is non-recoverable absent a written appeal accepted at our sole discretion.
